Mix Fight Championship - LIVE from Baku, Azerbaijan 10.09.2022

FightBox is proud to announce that Mix Fight Championship returns to live action on Saturday September 10th 2022, emanating from Baku, Azerbaijan at 9:00 pm CEST.

After a nearly year-long break, Mix Fight Championship is back in a big way with a fight card that includes what could be one of their most amazing main events in history. In a kickboxing rules matchup, Azerbaijan’s most celebrated fighter Zabit Samedov will square off with UFC icon Antonio “Big Foot” Silva. Samedov is a living legend in his home country of Azerbaijan and has won the respect of fight fans around the world by defeating some of the biggest names in kickboxing, such as Badr Hari, Errol Zimmerman, Ref Sefo and Melvin Manhoef. In recent times he has also gone on to become a television and film star. His opponent, Antonio Silva, is no stranger to fight fans worldwide, having 11 fights in the UFC and holding wins over the likes of Alistair Overeem, Fedor Emelianenko and Travis Browne and is a former challenger to the UFC Heavyweight Championship.

Samedov comes into the fight riding a 20 fight win streak that goes back to 2013 and includes 7 KOs. However, “Big Foot” is also known for his KO power, with 15 of his 19 MMA victories coming by knockout. His kickboxing debut in 2017 against Glory champion Rico Verhoeven did not end well, though, with Verhoeven winning by TKO in the second round. The 42 year old Silva could now be looking for redemption and to leave an indelible footprint on the world of kickboxing by defeating one of its most dominant stars.

Also on the card is a four-man -72.5 kg tournament featuring some of the most talented fighters in the division. Almost one year ago current Mix Fight Champion Vlad Tuinov defeated both Chris Baya and Johannes Bass in two spectacular bouts to claim victory in a tournament at the same weight division and now these four athletes: Besmir Helshani, Andrej Kedves, Ruslan Nagiyev and Dimitry Filonchik are looking to do the same and earn the right to challenge Tuinov in a battle of tournament champions.
