Wrestle1 results and news from Japan

As reported earlier on Fightbox, the landscape of the Japanese wrestling scene is drastically changing and in the process this led to the opening of the Wrestle1 promotion, headed by legend Keiji Mutoh (The Great Muta). Their first ever show was held this past weekend on September 8th at Tokyo Dome City Hall in front of a sold out crowd of 2,500. Below are the full results.

Hiroshi Yamato and Daiki Inaba def. NOSAWA and MAZADA

Ryoji Sai and Kohei Sato def. Ryota Hama and Yasufumi Nakanoueno

Yoshiko def. Mayu Iwantani

Minoru Tanaka and Koji Kanemoto def. Fujita Jr. Hayato and Masaaki Mochizuki

Daisuke Sekimoto and Yuji Okabayashi def. Kaz Hayashi and Shuji Kondo

Kazushi Sakuraba and Katsuyori Shibata def. Masakatsu Funaki and Masayuki Kono

KAI def. Seiya Sanada

Keiji Mutoh and Bob Sapp def. Rene Dupree and Zodiac

Several weeks ago it was reported in the news that Mutoh had been in America to begin negotiations with TNA Wrestling, supposedly to begin a talent sharing program. After the show it was announced that Jeff Jarrett will indeed be participating in their October 6th event. No opponent for him as been named has of yet. In addition, Wrestle1 has also announced their first tour which kicks off on the 6th of October and finished six events later on the 14th. This is in addition to the three other shows already scheduled for September. It seems that Keiji Mutoh's plan of establishing Wrestle1 as a major federation in Japan is not to be taken lightly.
