Card Changes for November 7th and Other Big News for Superkombat

On a recent edition of The FightBox Podcast, Superkombat Fighting Championship President Eduard Irimia made several big announcements about the intentions his top level kickboxing promotion including plans for a new reality show, a caged event and future cooperation with FightBox HD. The event on November 7th, airing live on FightBox HD at 6:30pm CET from Bucharest, Romania, will be the second event in cooperation with FightBox HD. Speaking of the newly formed partnership, Mr. Irimia remarked: “We have a lot of fans asking about where they have the chance to watch our events. Now FightBox gives us the opportunity on some platforms to be live also in different countries. That is a great asset”.

Regarding the future of Superkombat, the event on November 7th is scheduled to be the last Superkombat kickboxing event of the year. However, Eduard made a startling revelation exclusively on The FightBox Podcast.

“We have a special premiere for you. We’ll have at the end of the year a special edition called Super Cage … putting our superstars from Superkombat in the cage, combining the MMA rules with some changes in the rules. We’re going to do the standup fighters in the cage.”

He went on to say that the fighters would be wearing typical MMA gloves and that the event should take place on the 12th of December in Turin, Italy. There are scheduled to be four traditional MMA fights along with four special fights under Super Cage rules, with an emphasis on more standup action, especially in the first round.

As for his future plans for the organization, Mr. Irimia said that he plans on scouring the globe for the next heavyweight stars, not only in fighting gyms, but any high level athletes that show an aptitude for fighting. They could be from other sports including rugby, American football or other professional sports, referencing the success of Catalin Morosanu, Superkombat’s biggest star, who was originally a rugby player. The entire process will be filmed for a reality type of program, culminating with the debut of the top selected heavyweight fighters.

However, the most eminent event on November 7th also has a few surprises. The card for the New Heroes portion has changed, revealing that top Polish fighter Rafał Dudek, who is also currently the #6 ranked featherweight fighter in Glory, will be facing Cristi Milea of Romania. Dudek is perhaps the most successful kickboxer from Poland at the moment and will be looking to make an impact in Bucharest, Romania this Saturday. The full card can be found below:
