The main event of Cage Fury Fighting Championships fifty-fifth event was thrown out the window due to a last minute illness suffered by the reigning CFFC Featherweight Champion Jeff Lentz (11 - 4 - 1). According to reports, Lentz came down with some kind of a stomach illness or perhaps food poisoning just before he was to defend his title against Bill Algeo (7 - 2) in the featured bout of CFFC 55 in Atlantic City, NJ, USA. Evidently Lentz tried to check himself out of the hospital in order to fight, but CFFC officials would not have let him fight anyway. The bout could be rescheduled for CFFC 56, one month from now.
Despite all of the events surrounding the main event, CFFC still made history as Katlyn Chookagian defeated Brazil’s Isabelly Varela by decision to become the inaugural CFFC Women’s Flyweight Champion. The full results for CFFC 55 can be found below.
